Moonbreaker is out in early access right now. There are 4 different maps varying in shape and size, allowing for different types of gameplay.

After five years of development and much-anticipated optimism, Moonbreaker was released into early access on September 29th, 2022. A brand new digital turn-based strategy game developed by the creators of Subnautica in collaboration with fantasy sci-fi author Brandon Sanderson. The game entered early access with 3 captains, and 50 crew units for players to paint and customize to their hearts’ content. Along with these miniatures come 4 unique maps from 2 separate moons in the universe.

Every map in the game comes equipped with varying types of hard cover and soft cover. Hardcover blocks movement and sight, while soft cover only blocks movement with a decrease in accuracy when being fired upon by a ranged attack. Let’s take a look at all the maps in Moonbreaker from Blasko’s Refuge to Methedor.

All Maps in Moonbreaker: Blasko’s Refuge Maps

Information on the lore of each individual moon is sparse. However, we do know that Blasko’s Refuge is the home base for the Smugglers. Made up of the biggest scoundrels and pirates from across the galaxy, this faction of villainous entities has set up multiple locations across Blasko’s Refuge.

Smugglers Downtown

One of the smallest maps in the game, Smugglers Downtown can be a very straightforward map for beginners. The two spawn locations can be found in the northeast and southeast portions of the map. This urban-looking city has 4 hard and soft covers strewn around the map.

Smugglers Refinery

The industrial-designed Smugglers Refinery is a deceptively large map. Boasting three spawn points located in the northeast, southeast, and southwest parts of the map. Smugglers Refinery has 6 hardcovers, 10 soft covers, and 4 vision blockers. Vision Blockers are displayed on this map as vents with smoke coming out of them. These blockers do not restrict movement and decrease accuracy from ranged weapons being fired through them.

All Maps in Moonbreaker: Methedor Maps

On the other side of the solar system is the moon Methedor. Home to the Methedori, this large moon is the epicenter of authority and order. Humanoids and robots all come together to protect the ever-expanding solar system of moons otherwise known as The Breach.

Methedori Cliffs

Located on a snowy frozen lake, Methedori Cliffs gives the player a large amount of space and cover to plan their attack around. Spawns are situated on the northwest and southeast portions of the map. Cover-wise, Methedori Cliffs whips up 6 hardcovers and 10 soft covers posted around the map. Since the spawn points are almost equidistant from the middle of the map, players will be vying for control over central cover points.

Methedori Landing Pad

Methedori Landing Pad is the second map to have 3 different spawn locations. These locations are found in the north, southwest, and southeast. Equipped with 8 hardcovers and 13 soft covers scattered around the map, Mehtedori Landing Pad is the only map to have a large hole in the middle of the map. This obstacle cannot be traversed and players will need to strategize around this impasse.

Throughout early access developers Unknown Worlds have promised to introduce new units and captains every four months. Even though there has been no update on if maps will be released alongside these new units, there has already been one map shown off that hasn’t been unveiled officially. This map can be seen in a promotional gameplay trailer as well as on their main website. Fans have speculated this will be the first map on the moon Cholek, home of the Cholek culture. With acclaimed author Sanderson going over the story of the game in an hour long lore showcase alongside the games creative director, players can surmise for themselves just how deep the game has rooted itself into the company. Needless to say Unknown Worlds is very keen on making this a longstanding game for years to come.
