In the last year, Wordle has taken the world by storm. Created by Josh Wardle, then sold to the New York Times for at least $1M, the game now receives over 300,000 players per day. It has attracted a consistent base for so long because there’s only one puzzle per day, and it can be a friendly contest among friends.
While there are workarounds to play the game multiple times per day, depending on your reliance on the game, you may want to go one step further. Here’s how you can make your very own Wordle game.
How to Make Your Own Wordle
It would seem that there are two methods to create your own Wordle. Both methods rely on a third-party website, and they can be used to create games using words longer than five letters, unlike Wordle.
Creating a Custom Wordle Using “My Wordle”
- In your browser, head to https://mywordle.me.
- There will be a pop-up where you can set your custom prompt. Input any word you can think of, then click GENERATE LINK. If you can’t think of a specific word, click PLAY RANDOM WORD.
- You will then see a link that leads to your custom Wordle puzzle! If you click it, it’ll let you play your own game in the same window, so if you’d like to send it to friends, be sure to copy the link before clicking!
Creating a Custom Wordle Using “Word Rodeo”
- In your browser, head to https://word.rodeo/.
- There will be a pop-up where you can set your custom prompt. Input any 3-15 letter word you can think of, then click CREATE WORD.RODEO!
- You will then see a button that reads COPY LINK. If you click it, you can manually send the puzzle to your friends as a challenge. You can also click the SHARE button to do the same thing automatically.
That’s all there is to it! Find the most obscure words and test your friends’ mettle! And stick with Gamer Journalist for more on the revolutionary word game known as Wordle!
