Mastering the abilities in VALORANT is what sets the game apart from traditional competitive shooters like Counter-Strike. Some players like to think of Agent abilities as their tactical equipment. Properly using abilities can make it easy to take over a bombsite or defend against enemy tactics. In this VALORANT guide, we’ll take a look at the best Viper Split smokes and walls.
How to play Viper on Split
Split is a map coined for its polar opposite aesthetics from one side of the map to the other. Bombsite A has two entry points and Bombsite B has one entry point, not including the middle lane. With Viper, you can block off entire areas with a well-placed Poison Cloud or Toxic Screen.
Valorant Viper Walls – Split
Viper can be a great team member to wall off different parts of the map with her Toxic Screen. There are a few effective examples down below that you can practice.
Toxic Screen – wall off A ramps and rafters
First, let’s talk about the best Viper walls, or Toxic Screens, on Split. One Toxic Screen can completely block the vision of defenders on A Ramps and A Rafters. This makes it easy to walk right into the A site as long as nobody counters your move with a Sage.
Start near your spawn area and head towards the top lane towards the A site. Look up until you are at the same angle with the skyscraper in the picture below. From there, launch a Toxic Screen while standing still and aiming at the same location.
Toxic Screen – wall off B heaven and CT Spawn
From the attacking side, before you enter the garage area towards the B site, look up over the sign on the warehouse. Line up your crosshair like it is in the image below, and fire a Toxic Screen. Practice until you can perfectly block off B heaven and CT spawn like shown below.
Toxic Screen – wall off A for a retake
If you need to retake bombsite A, this Toxic Screen thrown from the CT side of A is very useful. You can wall off the entire side including rafters and A ramp. This one only leaves open the backside of A/elbow. Walk right in and easily retake the site. Easier said than done, I know.
Toxic Screen – Mid and A Ramp
Here’s a Toxic Screen that spans the entire area fro mid all the way over to ‘A Ramp’. This Toxic Screen serves two purposes and allows your support player to help out the A ramp area without actually being there.
Valorant Viper Smokes – Split
We have a few Viper Smokes on the Split map to show off as well. You can throw “one-way smokes”, which are Poison Clouds that make allow you to see the enemy, while making it almost impossible for them to see you.
Poison Cloud – One Way B Smoke
Here’s one of the best Viper Split Smokes. It’s a one-way Poison Cloud you can use if you are defending bombsite B. Look up towards the ceiling and aim for the corner like shown in the image below. This will cause the Poison Cloud to go off a little bit off the ground, leaving an area for us to see through only from the inside of B.
Poison Cloud – One Way Mid Smoke
The one-way mid smoke can be used to easily defend mid from the B heaven side. You can see under it, but the enemy team won’t be able to spot you as they walk up the stairs. G et the smoke to balance on the little lip above the entrance.
Poison Cloud – One-Way from A Heaven to A Ramp
This Poison Cloud is a bit tricky to learn, but it’s very effective for defending A Ramp. Get in position at the area shown below, and jump-throw your Poison Cloud so it balanced above the door. Now, you can move back to the stairs and see the enemy team coming up A ramp.
Poison Cloud – A Ramp
One last Viper Poison Cloud we have for you is an A Ramp smoke from the attacking side. You throw this just before the halfway point between attacking and defending side near bombsite A. Look at the windows and throw your Poison Cloud with your crosshair placed like it is in the image below.
This places a smoke at the top of A Ramp that you can sneakily walk through and pop out of to kill anyone in A heaven.
