Effort Values (EVs) are also referred to as Base Points and are gained through battling other Pokemon and through EV Training. However, sometimes you will be unsatisfied with the EVs your Pokemon has and would like to change them. The good news is that in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet this is possible.
In this article, we will delve into how you can change the EVs and help your Pokemon develop in a new way.

How to change EVs of a level 100 Pokemon
Changing the EVs of your Pokemon is easy, all you need are Reducing Berries. This item is reducing a specific EV by 10 when consumed so you can play around with it and adjust your Pokemon’s stats to your liking. Still, you would need a particular berry for each stat of your Pokemon:
- Reducing 10 HP EVs – Pomag Berry
- Reducing 10 Attack EVs – Kelpsy Berry
- Reducing 10 Defense EVs – Qualot Berry
- Reducing 10 Special Attack – Hondew Berry
- Reducing 10 Special Defense – Grepa Berry
- Reducing 10 Speed – Tamato Berry
Keep in mind that these berries will only reduce EVs for a particular stat and that’s it. It won’t give you those points back so you can allocate them to the other EV of your choice. You will have to EV train your Pokemon again and improve its EVs the old-fashioned way.
Finding Reducing Berries
Reducing Berries can be found in two ways. The first one is simple – keep an eye out when exploring the map. A lot of shining spots will appear here and there and although they won’t all be reducing berries, some of them will.
Another solution for getting Reducing Berries is to go to Porto Marinada Market and participate in Bargains where you will have to outbid other NPCs there. Note that this is only available after completing the Water Gym Test.
