5 Strongest Pets in WoW

Pets you can catch throughout Azeroth will have their own skills and abilities, damage type, and will belong to a particular family or type. We break down their skills and abilities for a clearer overview.

5. Xu-Fu, Cub Of Xuen

Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen is a white tiger pet of Beast type that became available with the Mists of Pandaria expansion. You can purchase it from Master Li on Timeless Isle.

Xu-Fu is generally weak against flying pets but has a good range of damage and healing abilities. Spirit Claws and Bite allow it to deal some serious damage while Feed acts as a lifesteal attack and allows Xu-Fu to heal for 100% of the damage dealt. This can be used in a combo with another one of its skills that increases damage such as Sprawl for maximum effect.

4. Emerald Proto-Whelp

Emerald Proto-Whelp belongs to the Dragonkin family and as you would expect, looks like a dragon. You can find this battle pet in the northern parts of the Sholazar Basin, right above the Glimmering Pillar.

Emerald Proto-Whelp’s main nemesis is the undead pets vs who it has the lowest chances of winning. However, it can pack a punch with some magic damage such as Breath and Proto-Strike allowing it to breathe fire and fly up in the air and tackle the enemy from above. The pet is also very capable of withstanding attacks with Emerald Presence which reduces incoming damage followed by Emerald Dream which puts it in a dream state where it regenerates.

3. Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling

If you opt-in for Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling you won’t be getting a Dragonkin, but a Mechanical pet. This robotic dragon can be found in Dazar’alor, northeast of the Great Seal pyramid.

Even though it is a Mechanical type, it can use the Breath ability as the basic ability for attacking enemy pets. Its most devastating abilities are Bombing run (a delayed shower of grenades that nukes the enemy), Thunderbolt (AoE ability damaging all enemies), and the Explode ability (suicide ability dealing massive damage).

Level 25 allows Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling to use Decoy, an ability that protects your team from two attacks.

2. Anubisath Idol

Humanoid type pet, Anubisath Idol, has been the choice of many players over the years. You can get him as a drop from the Twin Emperors in the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj.

Its damage spells include Crush, Sandstorm, Demolish, and Rupture. Rupture is the ultimate ability received at level 25 and has a 25% chance to stun enemies. Stoneskin and Deflection abilities allow Anubisath Idol to reduce the damage taken and dodge it.

1. Unborn Val’kyr

The Unborn Val’kyr is an Undead pet and it can spawn in any zone in Northrend. It is the strongest choice you can currently make for a battle pet.

It is an offensive battle pet whose only weakness is fighting the aquatic type pet. Val’kyr has excellent DoT spells with a unique twist on Haunt that actually allows it to possess the enemy unit, deal damage over time, and be absent from the map for the duration.

The Unholy Ascension sacrifices your remaining life to cause enemies to take 25% increased damage for 9 rounds. Even though it’s not a nuke spell that obliterates enemies quickly, it creates an atmosphere in which doing that is possible.
