Yacht Club Games Announces Its Next Game, Mina the Hollower

Backers contributed $100,000 through Kickstarter within the first hour

Yacht Club Games is best known as the studio behind the hit indie game Shovel Knight. The game was the result of an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign that was able to reach all of its goals. In the years following the game’s release, the company has started to develop and publish other games. During their Yacht Club Games Presents event today, they unveiled their next game, Mina the Hollower.

Yacht Club Games Returns to Kickstarter

Mina the Hollower is a tribute to classic video games with an 8-bit art design and top-down perspective. Players control Mina, a mouse who fights enemies using a whip while navigating dungeons. This is their first game that has nothing to do with Shovel Knight. Yacht Club Games will be using Kickstarter to fund Mina the Hollower.

After announcing the game during their Yacht Club Games event on today’s episode of X-Play, it went live on Kickstarter. Within an hour, it reached $100,000. Alec Faulkner, the game’s designer, had this to say about Kickstarter: “Though we’re financing a majority of this project ourselves, we hope we can create a more expansive game this way. More importantly, we want to build a community around Kickstarter, much like we did with Shovel Knight.”

Mina the Hollower is still in development but now that it has raised a large amount of money through Kickstarter, it will likely be for a while.
