WoW Burning Crusade Classic: 40 yard nameplates are coming

It’s not often Community Managers and Blizzard Employees take a suggestion from a forum post, let alone respond to it at all. It turns out they do read what the community is asking for and are more than willing to accommodate, at least sometimes. One user on the official Burning Crusade Classic discussion board posted a question asking about nameplates. More specifically, if we can get a slider for nameplate distance in The Burning Crusade Classic.

Well, the post went on to get an official reply from a community manager after just a few responses on the thread. Here’s what Blizzard has to say about it:

It looks like in the original code, the original development team intended to create a checkbox that toggled nameplate distance between 20 and 41 yards, but ran into a technical limitation.

In an upcoming build of the Burning Crusade Classic Beta, you can set the nameplate distance between 0 and 41 yards (inclusive) by setting this command in the chat box:

/script C_CVar.SetCVar(“nameplateMaxDistance”, 41)

Thanks for the suggestion!

How to set nameplate distance in The Burning Crusade Classic

It will be possible to set nameplate distance in The Burning Crusade Classic to a distance anywhere between 0 and 41 yards by typing the following command:

/script C_CVar.SetCVar(“nameplateMaxDistance”, 41)

It’s good news for anyone that plays… well, any class other than melee, to be frank. It is likely one of the few changes most of the community can agree upon, and we’re glad to see it.
