March 24th, 2023 will be the day players can get their hands on the long awaited Resident Evil 4 remake. A remake with as much anticipation and attention behind it as Final Fantasy 7, RE4 is set to blow the roof off of new and returning players alike. However, it should be said that not all consoles will be receiving this remake. As more and more players are able to get their hands on readily available current-gen consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, many developers have opted to not develop their games for last-gen consoles. This has caused some conversation within the community and has brought a question to light: will the Resident Evil 4 Remake be on PS4/Xbox One/Switch?
Will the Resident Evil 4 Remake be on PS4/Xbox One/Switch? Answered
A common practice that most developers have been doing since the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X has been automatically developing their games for last-gen consoles. This has been due to the lack of supply for some current-gen consoles like the PS5. However as manufacturers have caught up to the supply, more and more players are leaving the PS4 and Xbox One in the past.

While the Nintendo Switch isn’t considered a “last-gen” console, due to its lack of performance when compared to other consoles, some developers have opted to have a “cloud-based” version of their game. While others have chosen to not release on the Switch entirely due to this issue. At the end of the day, if the performance of the system in inadequate, it seems that CAPCOM is opting to not even try and port their games to those systems.
As of now, Resident Evil 4 remake will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. It’s unclear as to why CAPCOM decided to port the remake to PS4 and not to other last-gen consoles, but for fans of Sony, they will be in great standing. Sadly this does mean the game will not be available on Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, however they might eventually add cloud versions of the game. Allowing players to play the game on a cloud-based service, regardless of their console.
