Where to Play Night of the Consumers – All Platforms

The customer is always right

As someone who worked in retail for 4 years, I can safely say that Night of the Consumers is the most accurate depiction of dealing with customers. Working a shift in a Summer or Boxing Sale at a Clothing Store sees the animalistic side of humans come out, clothes all over the floors, being trampled on by hoards of people, all in search of the biggest bargain. Bags filled with children’s clothes, only to be returned the following day where only a single item was kept. As the silhouettes of salivating customers press up against the glass door, you wonder if you will make it out of your shift alive. Night of the Consumers is a great Indie Horror Game that both scares you as it does challenges you. But what is this game about and how can you play it?

What is Night of the Consumers?

Night of the Consumers is an Indie Horror Game made by a singular Developer, Germfood. You play as an employee of a Convenience Store where you are the most convenient thing in the room. As the store is closing, the final 10 minutes of your shift can be a living hell, but making it through it can be the most rewarding process in that you can greet your bed face first until the next day approaches. In Night of the Consumers, the goal is to fill the shelves whilst avoiding the ravenous customers who roam the aisles. If they catch you, they will demand that you locate an item for them in which you need to run and find the appropriate aisle. You get three attempts at doing this per ask and if you fail within the small allotted time, The Manager will destroy you.

Yes, the biggest scare in this game is The Manager, this is the same case for real-life people working in retail. As you are running away from many Karens, be sure to utilize the safe areas of the Staff Rooms and plan your route according to where the Boxes of Stock are so that your life is a little easier.

It is the Retail equivalent of Five Nights at Freddy’s, do you dare to enter your closing shift? As of May 2023, Night of the Consumers can only be played on Windows, where you can find the game on Itch.io. This will likely get placed on Steam with a full release, but for now, experience the chaos and demanding work of serving customers and putting away stock within an impossible timeframe.
