When it comes to open world survival sandboxes, details about the map are crucial. Whether it be the location of key items, how tall or how deep the map is, or how big/small it is. No where is that more important than when developing a sequel to one of these games. Enter Sons of The Forest, the sequel to the highly acclaimed sandbox game The Forest. In the game, you are placed on another island many fans have assumed to be the second site of experiments. With cannibals, beasts, and mutants for players to be terrified of. As people have been getting their hands on the early access version of the game, they’ve been wondering: what is the map size for Sons of The Forest?
What is the Map Size for Sons of The Forest? Answered
Developers over at Endnight Games have been adamant on making Sons of The Forest a truly fantastic experience built with the community in mind. Releasing the game in early access allows that back and forth with the players to hopefully update and improve the game to the point where they can announce a full release. This is crucial if they intend on releasing the game on more consoles.

Despite the game being in early access, the developers seemed pretty adamant with wanting to expand the map size from the first game. Because of this Endnight has made the Sons of The Forest map 4 times bigger than the map in The Forest. Mind you, the map of The Forest wasn’t particularly small either. So the massive increase in size from one game to the next might be a positive for some. But unfortunately, a negative for others, as a larger map could mean less key areas. This could potentially lead to the map feeling empty and not fully complete. Thankfully, from taking a look at the very positive reviews on Steam, this shouldn’t be an problem.
