In typical Bungie fashion, Destiny 2’s Lightfall preorder system is a total mess. There are three separate preorder editions of Lightfall and two different preorder bonus editions. Throw that on top of the countless current editions of Destiny 2 and its DLC, and you can see why a lot of people are confused as to what each Ligthfall preorder bundle actually comes with.
Well, I’m here to lay it out plain and simple (something Bungie can’t seem to get quite right). I’ll explain what each Destiny 2 Lightfall preorder bundle comes with, so you know exactly what you need to be buying.
Destiny 2 Lightfall Preorder Bundles Explained
There are two Destiny 2 Lightfall preorder bundles. Which one you get depends on which version of Lightfall you bought.
If you bought the base Lifghtfall DLC – meaning no Season Pass, you’ll get the following bonuses for your preorder:
- The Exotic Neptune Ghost Shell
- A pre-order exclusive Legendary Emblem
If you preordered the Collector’s Edition or Lightfall with the Annual Pass, you’ll get these:
- The Exotic Neptune Ghost Shell
- A pre-order exclusive Legendary Emblem
- Early access to the Quicksilver Exotic, with its ornament and Catalyst coming post-Lightfall
- An Exotic Strand-inspired Emote

Destiny 2 – What Comes with Each Lightfall Edition
On top of the preorder bonuses, what edition of Lightfall you purchase will dictate what content you get access to in-game. If you only purchased the base DLC, you’ll receive:
- The Lightfall Campaign
- The Lightfall Raid
- New Lightfall Exotics
- The Strand Subclass
- The Neptune Destination
- Additional in-game Lightfall-related content
Essentially, this gives you access to the Lightfall DLC and nothing more. This means no Seasonal content, which is the primary reason a lot of players purchase the Lightfall and Annual Pass bundle. That edition comes with:
- All the Standard Edition content
- Access to two new Dungeons throughout the year
- Access to all Season Passes and Seasonal content throughout the year
Purchasing this edition of Lightfall means you’ll never have to worry about purchasing a Dungeon or Season after the fact. You never run the risk of missing out on content – you get everything. However, you are committing your money to that content in advance.
If it turns out you want to skip a season or two, you don’t have the option of simply not buying it. That’s something to consider before you decide which edition you want for yourself.
