Wait… Warhammer 40K: Darktide has only four classes upon release?

Where are the other classes?

Warhammer 40K: Darktide has been fully released as of the 30th November 2022, however the release did not contain as much content as people may have been hoping. After the extensive closed-beta phase, we got to play around with a selection of maps and operators and limited functions. With the release, fans expected more content to be released than what Fatshark delivered. Will the game actually receive more classes?

Why weren’t more classes added?

The lack of more classes being added is part of the lack of content that was added upon release. There are apparently more features that still need to be worked on behind the scenes. Without an explicit explanation as to why there was no more classes added, we can only assume that Fatshark never intended for the release to be such a big deal in terms of content.

The transition from beta to full release was not the transition from unfinished to finished, as many may have thought would be the case. But with the launch over, the team can focus on content a little more than the balances and tweaks that the beta delivered.

Will more classes be added?

Fatshark, in their Community Update #4, that the launch is ‘just the beginning’. We can expect more content, more balances and tweaks, and more classes for the future of the game. Such as was the case with Vermintide and the sequel, after all.

So, yes, more classes will most likely be added but probably not any time soon. For now, experiment and enjoy the four classes you have for now, and await the arrival of their friends.
