Ahead of the game’s appearance at this year’s Ubisoft Forward event on September 10, Ubisoft debuted gameplay for their upcoming pirate title, Skull & Bones. Fans who have been holding out hope for Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones were treated to the first-ever gameplay trailer for the game as well as a release date slated for November 8, 2022.
Showing off many of the game’s various mechanics and features, this trailer has it all when it comes to new hype to instill in players. Serving as Ubisoft’s answer to Rare’s legendary pirate simulator, Sea of Thieves, Skull & Bones will also allow players to live out their wildest pirate fantasies across a vast world.
Skull & Bones shows a strong emphasis on its survival mechanics as players will have to work in order to live the most lavish of pirate lifestyles. Gathering resources is imperative to unlock blueprints in order to upgrade/craft bigger ships, weapons, and tools. Just about everything you’d need to be a successful pirate.
Additionally, players will be able to make their name an infamous one by completing contracts from various places on the map and collecting Infamy. Growing your notoriety will ensure that you have access to the best upgrades and craftable items available.
Naval combat also plays a big part in Skull & Bones. There are a total of 12 different ship options in-game, each fitting to a specific playstyle. The ships each have varying speeds, carrying capacities, and hit points. Players can also customize their ships with perks and weapons to further the piracy at hand.
Skull & Bones releases on November 8 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store), Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
