Rumors have been circulating for months that Sony will be creating their own Xbox Game Pass competitor, Spartacus. The company already has a similar streaming service known as PlayStation Now but in its current state, it is no Game Pass competitor. Apparently, Sony’s Spartacus will not feature PlayStation exclusive games at launch. Today, it was announced that PlayStation Now will feature its first game at launch, Shadow Warrior 3.
Sony May Be Looking to Improve their PlayStation Now Library
Flying Hog Lead Producer Bartek Sawicki announced today on the PlayStation Blog that the game would be available on PlayStation Now at launch. Shadow Warrior 3 will be an improvement upon the original as it will now feature a grappling hook. This item will allow players to swing around levels and, combined with the wall running and sliding mechanics, will make them more effective at traversal.
The Flying Wild Hog team has crafted Shadow Warrior 3 as the next evolution in our series to give more freedom to players in midst of the absolute chaos they create in combat. The dance between wielding the katana and letting loose with a shuriken launcher or railgun before executing an enemy to finish the fight with fireworks cannon is an absolute blast. Wall running, swinging over chasms, and bringing down a 2,000-year old bell tower on unsuspecting demons will keep the action up even more than ever before.
Sony’s decision to put the game on PlayStation Now may indicate what the company plans to do with their rumored Spartacus service should it launch. There have been several major additions to the PlayStation Now library like Borderlands 3 and Marvel’s Avengers but none have appeared on the service during the launch window. With physical PlayStation Now cards no longer being sold, one has to wonder how long the service will exist in its current form.
Shadow Warrior 3 arrives on March 1, 2022, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
