Sega is known these days mainly for Sonic the Hedgehog but 20 years ago, they created several games and had many consoles bearing the Sega name. Eventually, after the Dreamcast failed, the old Sega started to disappear as well as many of the game franchises they created. However, according to a new report, the company will bring back two of these franchises in the next few years.
The Reboots are part of Sega’s Super Game Project
Bloomberg has reported that Sega is currently developing reboots of both Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi. According to the article, the Crazy Taxi reboot has been in development since last year and is expected to release within the next two to three years. Both Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi were named by Sega as games the company wished to bring back.
These reboots are part of Sega’s Super Game Project announced last year. This project is an effort by Sega to capitalize on the popularity of Fortnite by building live-service games based on popular IPs such as Crazy Taxi and Jet set Radio. According to those close to the projects, they are still in the early stages of development and could be canceled at any time. Sega has yet to comment on the report.
