In 2020, Rockstar Games shocked fans when they announced that Grand Theft Auto V was receiving another console port as it would be heading to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Grand Theft Auto Online was also set to be ported to both consoles. After being delayed last year, both ports will be released on March 15. To prepare, Rockstar has given more information on what to expect from both ports.
Several Visual Upgrades Will Be Available for Both Games
In a post from their Newswire site, Rockstar announced that several visual upgrades would be present in these new versions of GTA V and GTA Online. There will be three settings modes to give players variety in how they want GTA V to look. Fidelity Mode will give the game a framerate of 30 while displaying in 4K quality. Performance Mode increases the framerate to 60 and gives the game a quality of upscaled 4K. The final mode is Performance RT, which combines the previously mentioned modes with ray tracing added.
PS5 players will be able to experience both games with the features of the Dualsense controller. These features include Haptic Feedback and resistance from the Adaptive Triggers. The PS5 version of the game will also feature 3D Audio, while the Xbox Series X|S version will have Spatial Sound.
GTA Online is now a standalone game meaning you won’t have to own GTA V to play it anymore. This new version of GTA Online will have exclusive vehicles and a new location called Hao’s Special Works, where players can get vehicle upgrades and complete time trials as well as free vehicle test rides.
Players coming from the PS4 and Xbox One versions of both games will be able to complete a one-time transfer of both story mode progress and GTA Online progress when the game releases later this month. PlayStation Plus members will have three months to claim GTA Online for free after it launches.
These new versions of GTA V and GTA Online will be available digitally starting March 15 with physical copies releasing in April.
