New Pokemon Snap is available for Nintendo Switch at the end of April, and Pokemon GO is celebrating with an event of their own. The Pokemon GO New Pokemon Snap Event features Lental-inspired Pokemon appearing more frequently in the wild, a chance at a Shiny Smeargle, and some new Field and Timed Research tasks. Here’s everything we know so far.
Pokemon GO New Pokemon Snap Event Schedule
The Pokemon GO New Pokemon Snap event begins on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 10 AM to Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 8 PM Local Time. In other words, you’ll have about four days to participate in the event and complete the exclusive Field and Timed research. New Pokemon Snap drops on April 30, so the event will serve as a nice change of pace when you need a break from snapping photos.
Pokemon GO New Pokemon Snap Event Details
Pokemon inspired by the jungles, deserts, and underwater environments of the Lental region will appear more often in the wild. You’ll be seeing plenty of Lotad, Cacnea, and Ducklett during the event. Similarly, the other Lental region-inspired Pokemon like Vaporeon, Meganium, and Trapinch will be appearing more often in raids.
Most importantly, Trainers will get a chance to encounter a Shiny Smeargle! Seeing as how Smeargle will appear more often than usual in snapshots, you might have a decent shot at catching one. Reports suggest Smeargle will only appear a limited number of times in snapshots, though. Shiny Smeargle will not appear after the event concludes, but it’s highly possible you may encounter one during future events!
Finally, you can find a unique camera avatar item and a camera-themed gift sticker in the shop during the event. Or, you could pick up the gift sticker from spinning some PokeStops.
