Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Release Date

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Release Date

The initial reveal of the long-awaited remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl drew some… divided takes, let’s say. While many were happy just to finally get Sinnoh remakes, the slightly squishy, doll-like art style of the overworld didn’t sit super well with folks who were expecting something more in line with the modern incarnations of Pokémon games. Still, whether you’re hyped or not, the remakes are coming, and considering the series’ track record, they’ll probably sell gangbusters. Here’s the release date for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Release Date

The official Pokémon Twitter page announced that Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have been dated for a release on the Nintendo Switch on November 19th, 2021, just in time for the holiday shopping season. Digital pre-orders are already open on the Switch eShop, and physical pre-orders are open at most major retailers. Individually, the games cost $59.99, though if you’re the double-dipping sort, you can also get them in a combo pack for $119.99. If there are any kind of bonus incentives for double-dipping, they haven’t yet been divulged.

In addition to the release date announcement, the Twitter post revealed the box art for the games, with Dialga and Palkia looking giant and regal as usual. Dialga looks about the same, aside from maybe being a bit more intimidating-looking, though some eagle-eyed Twitter users have noticed that Palkia’s shoulders have a bit of a fuzzy texture now. Seems kind of weird, but then again, Palkia isn’t a Steel type like Dialga, so I guess it can be a little fuzzy if it wants to be.

Rumors have begun to circulate that Nintendo will have some more details to share about these games during their E3 presentation in June.
