The last time we saw a Mario Strikers football/soccer game was in 2007 with Mario Strikers Charged, which came out on the Nintendo Wii. Fans were ecstatic to hear that Mario Strikers: Battle League would soon make its way to the Nintendo Switch. If you want to know which characters are in the game, here’s all you need to know about the Mario Strikers: Battle League roster.
Mario Strikers: Battle League is designed to be a five vs. five football/soccer game. Players will maneuver around the pitch, with the goal being to shoot the ball into the net to score points. The team with the most points at the end of the match will win the game.

Here is the full list of confirmed playable characters in Mario Strikers: Battle League, as well as some of their Hyper Strike abilities:
- Mario – ability involves kicking the ball into the air, then jumping and striking it with a bicycle kick.
- Luigi – ability involves sucking opposing players into a tornado before shooting the ball.
- Bowser – ability involves lighting the ball up in flames before throwing it away.
- Peach – ability involves using a jump kick to curve the ball while it’s traveling in the air.
- Yoshi – ability involves laying a Giant Egg, which bounces around randomly before firing itself at the net.
- Donkey Kong
- Wario
- Waluigi
- Rosalina
- Toad
Mario Strikers is a fairly straightforward premise, but it’s not your typical football simulation game. Instead, it will favor the classic Mario-style of chaotic, over-the-top gameplay. Players can use aggressive tackles, banana peels, white shells, and each character’s unique ‘Hyper Strike’ abilities.
One of the obvious additions to the game is Rosalina, who has yet to be featured on a single Mario Strikers series game. Toad has seen his role improve to one of the main playable characters from being a sidekick in previous games. Boom Boom (Bowser’s primary accomplice) will be featured in the net, taking over for Kritters’ role as the goalie.
Beyond this, it is also worth noting that each character will come with their own unique set of strengths and weaknesses, such as Bowser’s high shooting rating and low speed. Although, you will be able to improve certain stats using unlockable equipment, which can affect the player’s speed, strength, accuracy, and more.
Mario Strikers: Battle League is set to release on June 10, 2022, for Nintendo Switch.
