Live-Action God of War Series in the Works at Amazon

Video game adaptations have been a part of Hollywood since the infamous Super Mario Bros film, but after the success of The Witcher on Netflix, it seems Hollywood’s attention has shifted to TV shows. Fallout is receiving an adaptation at Amazon and it is being reported that the PlayStation exclusive God of War will receive one as well.

The Series Would Air on Prime Video

According to a report from Deadline, the show “comes from The Expanse creators/executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Otsby and The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins.” Sony Pictures and PlayStation Studios will also be a part of the project. Sony and Amazon have not given official statements regarding the rumored project.

With this show rumored to be in the works, it marks the third show based on a PlayStation game currently in development. A Last of Us series is in the works at HBO but won’t air until 2023 and Peacock will host a Twisted Metal series starring Anthony Mackie. Other video game projects coming soon to streaming services include the Halo series on Paramount +, Netflix’s upcoming Resident Evil project, and the aforementioned Fallout series starring Walton Goggins.

Later this year, the newest God of War game, God of War Ragnarök is set to be released for the PS4 and PS5. It will be the eighth installment in the series.
