In 2016, Hyper Light Drifter was released and received critical acclaim for its art style and challenging gameplay. Hyper Light Breaker Will Be 3D and Feature Online Co-op

During a livestream with G4’s Xplay, developer Heart Machine announced Hyper Light Breaker and showed a trailer for the game. Most of the trailer is an animated short followed by a brief preview of what the game will look like. It will launch in Early Access next year on Steam in Spring 2023.

This time around, Heart Machine will be working with Gearbox as they are the publisher of Hyper Light Breaker. Gearbox is most well-known for the Borderlands series, including the recently released Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Breaker was referred to as “a new path and culmination of everything we have learned over the past eight years of development at Heart Machine” by creative director Alx Preston.

The game will be 3D instead of 2D like Hyper Light Drifter and feature online co-op. Today’s announcement of Hyper Light Breaker celebrates the sixth birthday of Hyper Light Drifter.
