Taming Damselfly in Smalland: Survive the Wilds

Taming Damselfly in itself isn’t too complicated but the process of getting the necessary items to do it is. Damselfly is a flying mount insect that can be found south of the Elder, in a pond with lilypads. Like other mounts, you need to beat him until he has low HP and then offer him a treat – Damselfly Treat.

After you have completed that process you will be able to mount the Damselfly and fly around with it. This insect can’t fly with unlimited capacity however and each time you make him ascend his stamina bar will start dropping. So you will need to optimize this and determine where you can fly low and in which areas you need to ascend to avoid danger.

How to Get the Damselfly Treat?

Damselfly Treat is irresistible food for these insects and is a must-have when you want to tame them. In order to acquire one you have to have a Damselfly Treat recipe and a Stove Oven. Once you have both, you will need 3x Firefly Juice, 1x Petal, and 2x Seed Oil to make the treat in the Stone Oven.

Firefly juice can be acquired by killing Fireflies, Petals can be obtained by chopping down flowers like Mauve Plants, and Seed Oil is made from Seed that you get by taking down plants like Rye and then processing it through the Stonecutter.

How to Acquire Damselfly Treat Recipe?

You will get the Damselfly Treat recipe by completing a quest from Tuhala. The quest will take you to the southeast part of the map where you need to find and kill the King Stag Beetle and loot its Ancient Clover Seal. You should then take that seal to the Walnut chest you’ve found at the beginning of the game, inside the Elder’s cave, and unlock it. The chest will contain the Damselfly Treat Recipe.

How to Get the Stove Oven?

You will get the Stone Oven by getting your hands on some late-game resources like 5x Wood, 10x Stone Brick, and 5x Clay Mortar. Clay Mortar is made in the Windmill (1x Bug’s Lymph and 2x Clay), Wood is acquired by simply collecting it from small branch piles and Stone Brick can be made by putting 1x Stone and 1x Flint in the Stonecutter.
