Bastion has had a near on complete overhaul in his kit for Overwatch 2, coming with a surprise change in his manoeuvrability. The horror! This is nowhere near at the heights of which characters like Junkrat can launch himself around with. But this does mean an increased amount of utilising and experimenting with the new Bastion. Here’s how to do exactly that.
How to Rocket Jump with Bastion
One of Bastion’s newly implemented abilities is the A-36 Tactical Grenade. This is the exact attack you want to use to have Bastion do the Rocket Jump. To do this, simply plop it wherever you need to place it to project Bastion upwards. Place this down where the direction that you intend for him to elevate to is at its best positioning for the angle.
This means that you can effectively place Bastion in higher to reach positions. This is especially notable for preparing on Defence. You have time to position yourself in out of sight corners for an initial surprise encounter to crank up your Ultimate gauge quicker than usual.
Remember that Bastion’s Rocket Jump does not have the same manoeuvrability nor impact as his Rocket Jump had in the original game in his Ultimate move set. This does not mean that it is a complete downgrade, however. Bastion’s rework in his Rocket Jump now being pulled off with one of his abilities means that positioning him in such ways will be a more frequent possibility. This is because abilities are always available unless used and are on a cooldown. Get creative in how many positions you can hide this tiny tank and get to popping heads with him in these blind spots!
Remember to utilise Overwatch 2’s training and custom games to master his kit without concern with your stats or competitive points. Do this with friends or without in AI battles or exploring the maps for the best spots and movements on your own accord.
