How to Learn Flipendo in Hogwarts Legacy – Spell Guide

Flipendo, also known as the Knockback Jinx, is a Force-category spell in Hogwarts Legacy. Much like in its original appearances, Flipendo is primarily used as a basic offensive spell; it knocks objects over, knocks people and living things back, and can be used to “flip” switches (see what we did there?). It’s also a great spell for building combos against foes; it’s got a quick cooldown, so if you’re trying to juggle a sucker in the air, Flipendo will keep them up there longer.

Flipendo is taught to you by your Herbology teacher at Hogwarts, Professor Garlick, who can be found in the Greenhouses next to the Library Annex. The first assignment she gives you will reward you with the ability to cast Wingardium Leviosa, but if you come back for more, she’ll give you a second assignment with Flipendo as the reward.

For your second assignment, Professor Garlick wants you to do a little combat gardening. Firstly, you’ll need to cultivate your own sample of Fluxweed. You can get a Potting Table from Tomes and Scrolls at Hogsmeade and Fluxweed Seed from Magic Neep. Head to the Room of Requirement, place the table, plant the seed, and wait. It takes about 15 minutes for the Fluxweed to grow, so go make a sandwich or something and come back in a bit.

Once that’s done, the next step is testing out the three types of combat plants: Chinese Chomping Cabbages, Mandrake, and Venomous Tentacula. You can buy either seeds or pre-grown samples of all three at Dogweed and Deathcap in Hogsmeade, depending on how much cash you have. Once you have all three, just equip and cast each one once. You don’t need to be in combat, you can just do it anywhere.

Once the tasks are all finished, return to Professor Garlick, and she’ll reward you with the Flipendo motion. Unfortunately, your character won’t scream “FLIIIPENNDO” at the top of their lungs, but you can always do it yourself if you’re feeling nostalgic.
