How to Get All Mods in Destiny 2

There really is nothing to it.

During Season of the Seraph, Bungie unlocked all mods in Destiny 2 for all players. This update came out of nowhere, catching the community off-guard and allowing newer players to finally engage in Destiny 2’s mod system. However, Bungie wasn’t exactly clear on how to actually get all the mods in Destiny 2, which is what we’re going over here.

I’m going to go through how to get access to all mods in Destiny 2. There’s very little work to be done – none, in fact. So, if you’ve been struggling to access your newly unlocked mods, this should be the help you’re looking for.

When you log into Destiny 2 for the first time after patch 6.3.0.3, you should get a pop-up message informing you that all mods in Destiny 2 are now unlocked for all players. However, when you navigate to the mods in your collection, they’re all still locked. You’ll still be able to buy mods from Ada, too, so what gives?

Bungie wasn’t lying. All the mods are already unlocked for you, they just won’t appear in your collections. If you go into one of your armor pieces and try to slot a mod into it, you’ll notice that you have access to all the mods from there.

You don’t have to do anything to unlock all mods in Destiny 2 – they just don’t unlock everywhere.

Why has Bungie decided to unlock all mods in Destiny 2, though? Especially in such a surprising and gung-ho way. Well, according to the same post that announced the mod news, Bungie is working on an overhaul of the current mod system.

Once Lightfall drops, we’re apparently getting a whole new mod system. We already know that in-game loadouts will be released with the DLC, but this is the first we’ve heard of any change to how mods actually function.

Bungie wants to let players experience the mod system in its current iteration before the changes, which is why they’ve unlocked all the mods for everyone.
