Purchasing a game in order to get a chance to play it early is a hallmark of most digital deluxe editions. Echoing this sentiment is Hogwarts Legacy, which had it’s early access release as of February 7th, 2023. However when people attempted to boot up Steam and start playing the game, they were met with a lock on the game. This had a few people perplexed, as the developers made a post on Twitter stating that it would globally release on PC at 10AM PST/1PM EST. How to Fix Early Access Not Working for Hogwarts Legacy
Players eagerly awaiting for the clock to turn over were suddenly met with worries. As even though the time had passed when it should be unlocked, many players were expressing that they weren’t able to start playing or even unpack the game. This has frustrated many players who have paid a premium to get this game 72 hours early and thus, would like to play the game with everyone else who paid more.

Thankfully the solution could be a simple fix away. In order to try and fix the early access not working, players should try to repair the game through Steam, and then restarting Steam. This can be done through task manager or by going to the top left of Steam, selecting ‘Steam’ and then clicking ‘Exit’. This has solved to issue for many players who when starting Steam up again, can see that the game is being unpacked if you pre-loaded the game.
