The latest Hunt: Showdown Event ‘The Ward of the Reptilian’ is now live but for a limited time only. From the 29th of March to the 1st of May, 2023, players will be able to play through the new Questline to unlock the ‘Scaled Ward’. Similar to ‘The Reptilian’ Skin in Cold Blooded DLC which released October, 2021, this scaly Hunter makes his return for a limited time only deal for players to nab this Skin for themselves. This time however you will need to hit those objectives to unlock the Reptilian’s Apprentice. But how do you complete ‘The Ward of the Reptilian’? This guide will show you everything you need to do in order to get the ‘Scaled Ward’ out for yourself.
Hunt: Showdown ‘The Ward of the Reptilian’ Questline
There are a total of 6 Acts that the player will have to progress through to complete The Ward of the Reptilian Questline. These Acts are divided into a set of 4-8 specific objectives/challenges that players must hit. These can be completed in any order however and multiple can be done simultaneously as you enter matches in Hunt: Showdown. You can keep track of your progression mid-match, as well as checking your Questline Summary which will detail how far off you are from completing the Tier objectives. When selecting what Quest you wish to start, click on the Quest and select ‘Start Quest’. You can have 2 running at the same time. Refer to the two plus icons at the bottom of the Questline screen for what you have assigned.

As you progress through the Acts you will unlock Legendary items such as Skins or Weapons. Whilst players who have purchased The Ward of the Reptilian will also unlock the Reptilian Skin itself, as seen in the Questline Trailer from Crytek on YouTube. The ‘Scaled Ward’ is the final unlock upon completing Act 6 of The Ward of the Reptilian. This new Skin is incredibly hard to see in-game, similar to that of the Ghillie Suit in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2009). It is one of the best Skins to use in the game due to its color design being incredibly similar to that of the landscape. You can easily hide in bushes, trees and take a dive into the swampy waters to ambush your prey from above. The Skin allows you to get in close to other Hunters, where most Skins do not allow for this opportunity.

Act I (Unlocks Duster Variant – ‘Monongahela Bruiser’)
- Using the Lantern that dangles above the Dog Cages and Chicken Coops, break it to destroy these objects (0/8)
- Kill Grunts using damage only produced via Melee (0/20)
- Deal Damage to other Hunters, total Damage is tallied up (0/750)
- Collect Clues and/or Close Rifts (0/6)
Act II (Unlocks Weapon – Winfield M1876 Centennial Shorty)
- Defeat Armoreds and/or Immolators (0/15)
- Deal Damage to other Hunters using Rifles only (0/1000)
- Deal Damage to other Hunters using either Custom or Special Ammo (0/1000)
- Find Boss Target Lairs (0/4)
- Investigate Gator Traps (0/8)
Act III (Unlocks Barrel – ‘Somber Gale’ for Scottfield Model 3 Precision)
- Kill Crows and/or Horses (0/8)
- Kill Water Devils (0/6)
- Inflict Bleed on other Hunters (0/10)
- Deal damage to other Hunters using Pistols only (0/1000)
- Deal damage to other Hunters using Winfield M1875 Centennial Variants (0/1250)
- Banish Boss Targets and/or activate Wellsprings (0/2)
Act IV (Unlocks Attachment – Silencer for Winfield M1876 Centennial Shorty)
- Defeat Armoreds or Hives using Fire (0/15)
- Deal Poison Damage to other Hunters (0/500)
- Kill other Hunters with Shotguns only (0/6)
- Use Rifles to get Headshots on other Hunters (0/4)
- Extract with a Bounty or be Soul Survivor in the Match (0/2)
- Investigate Gator Traps (0/10)
Act V (Unlocks Variant – ‘Ferryman’s Oar’ for Berthier Mle 1892)
- Kill Ducks (0/6)
- Defeat Hellhounds or Immolators using Poison Damage (0/15)
- Deal damage to other Hunters using either Full Metal Jacket or Poison Ammo (0/1250)
- Set other Hunters on fire when they are alive (0/6)
- Investigate Gator Traps (0/12)
- Kill other Hunters with Winfield M1876 Centennial Variants (0/5)
- Vanish Boss Targets or activate Wellsprings (0/3)
Act VI (Unlocks Hunter – ‘The Scaled Ward’)
- Deal Explosive and/or Fire Damage to Boss Targets (0/5000)
- Deal Fire Damage to other Hunters (0/500)
- Deal damage to other Hunters using Scottfield Model 3 Variants (0/1250)
- Kill Meatheads at any of these locations: Lockbay Docks, Sweetbell Flour, and Forked River Fishery (0/3)
- Kill other Hunters using the Ferryman’s Oar (Act V Reward – 0/6)
- Inflict Bleed on other Hunters (0/10)
- Investigate Gator Traps (0/16)
- Extract with a Bounty or be Soul Survivor in the Match (0/3)
Remember that you only have until May to complete ‘The Ward of the Reptilian’ so get grinding for that ‘Scaled Ward’ Hunter. Refer to the Countdown within your Questlines when selecting The Ward of the Reptilian to keep track of how much time you have left to unlock the limited time Legendary Hunter.
