How to Beat The Second Circle in Pandaemonium Abyssos

You’ve finally made it to level 90 and you are equipped with gear that can handle Endwalker’s main scenario fights. Beating the second circle in Pandaemonium Abyssos requires you to be ready when he’s aiming for your tank and to prepare to mass heal your party. The second circle isn’t as difficult as other raids and is fairly straightforward. If you avoid the different moves Hippokampos is using you can come out victorious. There are three phases in this raid, one of them, is just a repeat of both attacks enhanced. Here’s how you can beat the second circle in Pandaemonium Abyssos.

Tainted Waters Phase 1 in FFXIV Pandaemonium Abyssos Raid

There are four different attacks Hippokampos can use and it will be dangerous if you’re not prepared. Those four attacks are:

  • Murky Depths – Raid wide AoE, healers, heal!
  • Doubled Impact – Stack tanks share damage it’s a tank buster
  • Spoken Cataract – Stay behind the head and watch for AoE attack on platform
  • Sewage Deluge – Heavy AoE attack, heal, heal, heal!

The major attacks you need to worry about are Spoken Cataract and Sewage Deluge. During the Spoken Cataract attack, Hippokampos will have his head and body face the opposite direction of each other. There will be two arrows; one red and one yellow. All you should worry about is staying behind the head so you’re not affected by the AoE on the entire platform. You need to also avoid his body since he uses a side sweep cleave attack. Lastly, Sewage Deluge is a move set he will be using in the next phase so be sure to heal.

Flooding Phase 2 in FFXIV Pandaemonium Abyssos Raid

You will start to notice that your platform is going to start flooding. Your only safe spot option is to head for the raised platforms and stay on them. Other than that there are a few attacks you should be cautious of when dealing with this phase. Those attacks are:

  • Tainted Flood – Circle AoE markers on raid members, spread out, don’t stack!
  • Predatory Sight – All members will be marked with stack markers, stack up!
  • Shockwave – Knock back marker on the platform will cause the entire team to be knocked out.

What you need to be cautious over is the Shockwave attack. This attack can wipe your team if you’re not positioned properly. Hippokampos will target a platform and after he uses a spell he will knock back all teammates. If you’re positioned to hit these gates you can be pushed back into them without failing. If you have survived the Shockwave attack you’re onto the next phase!

Enhancement Phase 3 in FFXIV Pandaemonium Abyssos Raid

This last phase consists of moves you will see again so it’s important to familiarize yourself to them. Hippokampos also use moves such as Dissociation and Sewage Eruption. He will also continue using Spoken Cataract, which hopefully, you’re a pro by now. Dissociation focuses on decapitation where Hippokampus head will literally fly off. It grows another head, don’t worry. His head opposite the arena will create a line that covers half the platform. Just, run to the other side. Sewage Eruption is a large circle AoE that forms under your party, please dodge. Lastly, Hippokampos uses Coherence and this attack has two markers to focus on.

Coherence uses a marker that focuses on the tank and the rest of the raid. You need to have your team stack up whereas your tank needs to run away from the team. This attack will hurt the tank so be sure to use cooldowns and heal frequently. If you’ve managed to get this far, congratulations, you’ve made it through the second circle.
