Getting the most powerful gear in any game is one thing. Getting to play with it and discover its hidden potential by upgrading it and customizing it is a whole other thing. Thankfully, RPGs such as Hogwarts Legacy allows us to do such a thing. This will benefit our play style and also our encounters with the most unforgiving enemies of the game. However, the way you will do this is quite unique, and may get confusing for newcomers. Therefore, here is how to add traits to gear in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Add Traits to Gear in Hogwarts Legacy
Gear pieces per se already bring certain bonuses to defense or offense. However, to add another layer of customization, you will be able to add traits to them to gain some spell damage bonuses or even lower the incoming damage you receive. This will be vital once you get to face stronger enemies while you continue your story. So, in order to add traits to gear, you will have to complete two quests in the game: The Room of Requirement, and The Elf, The Nab-Sack and The Loom. The first one will unlock the place where you will be able to add traits, and the second one unlocks the way you will add them.
You will have to conjure an Enchanted Loom, which requires eight Moonstones. Collect them in the wild or purchase them to use them. Conjure it in the Room of Requirement and interact with it. A menu will pop up, and you will be able to assign specific traits to the gear you have collected in your adventure. Each piece of gear can be upgraded three times, and the traits can be found all across the map, specifically in Bandit Camps and Dungeons.

If you have discovered a new trait in the wild, you will have to use the Desk of Description found in The Room of Requirement in order to discover and use the trait with your available gear. Be sure to upgrade your gear as soon as you can to gain a significant advantage against your enemies. Good luck!
