How to Activate Dev Mode in RimWorld

Though you could play around with the game’s files to mod it, Dev Mode is actually something that can be activated quite easily. All players have to do is enable it in-game actually. It’s extremely easy to do and can be toggled on or off whenever you’d like. So, without further ado, let’s get into the steps to turn on Dev Mode in RimWorld.

  • To activate Dev Mode, simply boot up RimWorld.
  • From the main menu, select the Options menu and open it up.
  • From there, choose the Development Mode which is located on the bottom right side of the settings options.
  • Once activated, you’ll see a green checkmark near Development Mode, indicating that it’s activated and ready for use.
  • Similarly, you can also deactivate Development mode just by clicking it again, which removed the green checkmark with a red X in its place.

Now that you have the Dev Mode enabled, you’ll be able to utilize the developer tools in-game to use for yourself. But, why would you want to use Dev Mode though? Well, there are many great tools that players can use to make things a bit easier for themselves so that they aren’t having to waste much time with some of the systems the game has in place.   • You can spawn any items in the game that you’d want. Are you in need of food or resources for your colony? Just spawn them in and you won’t have to worry about not having them.
  • You can change your idealogy when in Dev Mode. This means you don’t ever really have to worry about the choices you’re making, thus lifting anxiety about what settings you’re limited to.
  • You can also make the game less harmful and more of just a creative venture. God Mode, basically turns RimWorld from a survival game to a creative one where you don’t have to worry about death at all.
