How Big is the Map in Dead Island 2? Answered

Who knew California would look better in an apocalypse?

After almost 10 years of development, getting thrown around to multiple dev teams, Dead Island 2 is looking to finally release April of 2023. The sequel in number to the 2011 “Dead Island”, Dead Island 2 looks to improve and upgrade the mechanics and systems from the original. Aside from the gameplay and graphics, developers Deep Silver Dambuster Studios has aimed to make a fairly massive open world with the game. And while the original games open world wasn’t extremely large, it had a decent size with a decent amount of things to do. Let’s chop some heads and answer the question: how big is the map in Dead Island 2?

It’s no secret that Dead Island 2 has been in a bit of “development hell” a few years prior. While the original game was almost considered a cult-classic, Dead Island 2 will have to do a bit more convincing for players to be fully on board. And thanks to a special redditor, players might have a chance to see some parts of the game early.

A user by the name of “Sk1leR” posted a supposed leaked image of the map. There came a few positive and negatives from this post. While we now know the game will feature a district type system connecting parts of the map together, we aren’t able to fully see parts of the map. This could be a good thing, as there seem to be a total of 10 locations or districts within the entirety of the game. There are a few locations that are locked in the picture, most likely due to where the player had progressed to. However it can be surmised that due to the number of areas, the map size for Dead Island 2 should be quite a bit larger than the originals.
