Best Perks in Guardians of the Galaxy

I admit I never paid much mind to the Guardians of the Galaxy before their introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their only member I even knew by name was Rocket Raccoon, and that was thanks to Marvel VS Capcom. Thanks to those movies, though, they’ve become a pretty big deal, and we’ve all fallen in love with their half-brained, roguish antics. Of course, if those antics could be a bit more-brained, they’d probably have an easier time, and that means punching up their skills. Here are some of the best perks in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

As you play through Guardians of the Galaxy, Quill will loot component sticks and spheres from defeated enemies and opened containers. These components can be brought to Rocket’s workbench aboard the ship and transformed into perks for Quill that’ll make him a bit heartier in a fight, among other things. It should be said that while there are perks you should prioritize, which we’ll get into in a moment, it is possible to buy all 15 perks in a single run of the game, as long as you’re thorough enough with your sweeps.

Best Perks in Guardians of the Galaxy

The perks you’ll want to choose first for your playthrough depend mostly on your preferred playstyle, but in general, you can’t go wrong with these:

  • Rapid Reload
  • Components Localizer
  • Tactical Scan
  • Perfect Dodge
  • Super Quill Punch

Rapid Reload

Quill’s Elemental Guns tend to overheat pretty quickly when firing nonstop, leaving you a sitting duck as you wait for them to cool down. With Rapid Reload, you’ll get a little QTE when your guns overheat. If you press the reload button again at the right time, your guns will cool down instantly, getting you right back into the action.

Components Localizer

I know I said you can find all the components you need just by searching thoroughly, but a little UI assistance certainly wouldn’t hurt. With this perk, you’ll get a visual ping whenever there’s either a hidden stash of components or an optional path nearby. You can even bring up your visor to see their precise location. This perk is absolutely vital for completionists.

Tactical Scan

Different enemy types have different weaknesses, and it can be a bit of a pain in the butt to try and keep them all in your head. Take the guesswork out with Tactical Scan, which displays enemy weaknesses when viewing enemies through your visor.

Perfect Dodge

If you’re a fan of character-action games, you know you gotta have this. With Perfect Dodge, a last-moment dodge of an enemy attack will temporarily slow down time, giving you a few moments to lay into them without fear of reprisal. The dodge window is actually pretty big, so you might even find yourself landing perfect dodges without meaning to. Neat!

Super Quill Punch

In a major encounter where you’re being swarmed by little enemies, there’s a good chance you’ll find yourself surrounded without a means of recovering. If you don’t mind the incredibly dorky name, the Super Quill Punch can be a lifesaver, causing any enemy killed with a Jet Boots dash punch to drop bonus health pick-ups.
