EA Play Will Not Take Place This Year

EA Play Live Will Not Take Place This Year

EA's games will be showcased "when the time is right"

E3 was once the event every company attended to showcase their upcoming games and hardware. In the past decade, companies such as Nintendo and Sony have branched off to hold their own events close to E3 realizing that they didn’t need the event to do so. EA also held its own live events after branching off from E3 but this year, its annual EA Play Live event will not take place.

EA Says It’s not Ready to Show Off Its Games Yet

A spokesperson from EA told IGN the following statement regarding EA Play’s cancellation this year: “We love EA Play Live as it’s our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren’t lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!”

Since 2016, EA has been holding the EA Play event on the Sunday before E3 began. For the past two years, the event had been held virtually due to the pandemic. E3 has been held virtually for the past two years and won’t have an in-person event this year. The only confirmed gaming event that will happen this summer is Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest.

Some of EA’s upcoming games include Star Wars titles from Respawn, a new Skate game, and a Dead Space remake.
