The year 2022 marks 20 years since Kingdom Hearts was released on the PS2. It was, at the time, an odd collaboration between Disney, the company that made Mickey Mouse, and Square Enix, the company that made Final Fantasy. The result was the creation of one of the most beloved gaming franchises of all time. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Square Enix is releasing games in the Kingdom Hearts series on the Nintendo Switch through the cloud.
Kingdom Hearts Comes to a Nintendo Console for the First Time
Starting on February 10, Nintendo Switch owners can stream the following Kingdom Hearts games through the cloud: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC), and the Kingdom Hearts collection which features all of the games in the series. Players who purchase Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC) or the Kingdom Heart collection will receive the Advent Red Keyblade within Kingdom Hearts III.
There are currently demos available for each game listed on the Nintendo eShop. These exist to let players determine whether or not their internet can handle cloud streaming. Each game is now available for pre-order. Information on pricing can be found here on Square Enix’s website.
