Changing Difficulties in Death Stranding

Changing difficulties in Death Stranding is easy and can be done at any time during the game. To change difficulties, you can use the following steps:

  • Hit Options button on PS4 controller
  • Hit Left on the D-pad
  • Go to System > Options
  • Go to Game Settings

You will see the first option is to change the difficulty between Very Easy, Easy, Medium, and Hard. This is where you will want to set your difficulty, and the one you choose is completely up to you. If you begin struggling at a higher difficulty you can always return to this spot and lower the difficulty.

Very Easy mode is clearly designed for people who are primarily interested in the story. If you basically just want to explore the world, this may be the option for you.

Hard difficulty is for players who really want a challenge, though we anticipate most people will choose a difficulty in the middle like Easy or Medium.

The difficulty mode impacts damage taken, how hard it is to stealth, and how quickly your stamina drains. Feel free to experiment with each difficulty and see which suits your play style best as there is no penalty for doing so.
