Microsoft made headlines recently with its announcement that it will be purchasing Activision Blizzard. This made gamers begin discussing what games Microsoft would make exclusive to its Xbox consoles. Microsoft may not need to make Activision games exclusive when it already has its own set of studios currently working on projects. One of those studios is Certain Affinity, which is rumored to be developing a game similar to Monster Hunter.
Microsoft Seeking Games for Game Pass
On the latest episode of Jeff Grubb’s podcast GrubbSnax, it was revealed by Grubb that Certain Affinity is working on a “Monster Hunter style game.” “They see this gameplay style succeeding,” Grubb said, “and Microsoft’s like, ‘hey, we should try to make one of those, is anyone out there going to pitch one?’” Microsoft is in search of games to bring in subscribers to its Game Pass service.
An article from Windows Central also reported on this rumor and was able to confirm it with sources. They reported that this game’s working title is Project Suerte and has been in development since summer 2020. The game may be revealed in 2023 and released in 2024. Certain Affinity is known for assisting in the development of games such as Doom, Call of Duty, and even Microsoft’s Halo series.
It’s been rumored that the studio could be working on a battle-royale mode or another type of mode for Halo Infinite but this has yet to be confirmed. Microsoft has been trying to make Game Pass more attractive to gamers by adding exclusives such as Outriders, Bad 4 Blood, and Rainbox Six Extraction. If the rumors are true, Project Suerte could join those games in the next few years.
