CD Projekt Red Confirms a New Witcher Game Is in the Works

A new Witcher game is in development, and it will be built on Unreal Engine 5

For about the past decade, CD Projekt Red has been a busy company. They developed Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3, two large open-world RPGs. They also developed a couple of Gwent Witcher spin-offs. Ever since the release of The Witcher 3 in 2015, fans have wondered when a sequel would be on its way. We don’t know that yet, but we do know some other details about the next Witcher game.

A New Saga in The Witcher Series Begins

CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed that a new Witcher game is in development. The game will not be using REDengine and will instead be using Unreal Engine 5. This decision is due to CD Projekt Red beginning a partnership with Epic Games. A press release mentions that this is “kicking off a new saga for the franchise.” The game will not be exclusive to one single storefront.

This news was also accompanied by an image of a snow-covered medallion. Witcher fans will notice immediately that this isn’t Geralt’s medallion. It looks more like the School of the Cat medallion similar to the one Ciri wore. This could be a hint that she is the main character of this next saga in the series.

Other than the image itself, there is no news on what the next game will be about or when it will be released.
