Capcom’s latest major release was 2021’s Resident Evil Village. The game was praised by fans and critics for being a great entry in the survival horror series. Since then, rumors have circulated about what the company will release next. Last summer, a huge data breach at Capcom revealed that several games were in development. Now that a mysterious countdown has appeared, we may soon find out which of these rumored games is coming next.
Could it be the Resident Evil 4 Remake or Street Fighter 6?
The mysterious countdown page appeared last night. When entering the page, the word “Countdown” appears before the actual countdown time takes its place. At the time of writing this, the countdown currently says 6 days 11 hours, meaning the announcement will take place this Sunday. The left side of the time represents a digital clock, while the right side is analog.
There isn’t any official news from Capcom on what this announcement could be, but there’s a possibility that it’s a Street Fighter 6 reveal. The game was leaked during the aforementioned data breach, and the Capcom Cup will end on the same day as the countdown. It could also be an announcement regarding the rumored Resident Evil 4 remake.
Just last week, details were revealed about the game’s development and how Capcom is trying to make it different from the original. The timing could just be a coincidence, but it wouldn’t be surprising to the game officially announced by Capcom this Sunday. We’ll know what the announcement is when the countdown ends at 10 p.m. PST on February 20.
