Blue Archive – How To Increase Relationship Ranks

It's more than just a relationship of affection with your students. They can become STRONGER!

While you may think Blue Archive is another Harem game, we assure you, it’s not(-ish). Instead, Blue Archive is all about assisting young Students, whether helping them protect their school from attacks and loan sharks to helping them gain more confidence in themselves (very wholesome indeed). Furthermore, you will learn that there’s more than one way to increase your Students’ stats, including Relationships Ranks. So, if you’re new to Blue Archive, follow this guide to learn how to increase Relationship Ranks.

You may think that increasing your Students’ stats the traditional way, aka completing Missions, is the only way to improve their overall performance. While you can significantly increase their stats this way, Relationship Ranks also provide additional bonuses. For example, you can gain ATK and Max HP bonuses by increasing your Relationship Ranks with your students.

You can increase your Relationship Rank in Blue Archive in three ways: Cafe, Crafting, and Lessons. Increasing your Relationships with your Students allows you to access their Stories (meaning more Pyroxenes!), gain more ATK Bonuses, and their Recollection lobby; this is a live 2D version of an event that occurred during their Story. All students will have a maximum Relationship Rank of 20; however, if you unlock their three-star level, you can advance them further.

Cafe

Once you have cleared Mission Area 2-1, you will unlock the Schale Cafe. Each day, three to four random Students will visit your Cafe; this is not limited to the Students you own; you may also get Students you have not recruited. These Students can visit your Cafe twice daily; there will be a timer at the top left corner of your screen that indicates when the next round of Students will visit.

Unfortunately, you will only be able to receive Bond Points from Students you have recruited, and this is indicated by the three yellow exclamation marks on their heads when they enter the Cafe; tap on their heads and increase the Relationship points (you can do this up to four times during each cycle). Once every 20 hours, you can also invite a Student to the Cafe; they allow you to increase your preferred Students Relationship quicker.

Let’s not forget to give your Students gifts. Each Student will have certain gifts they prefer; as seen in the image above, Akari’s preferred gift is a Whole Cake; giving Students their preferred gift will also increase their Relationship Rank. If you have a gift that a Student visiting does not prefer, save that gift for the next cycle!

Crafting

The Crafting facilities will open once you have completed Mission Area 3-2. While Crafting will not affect your Students’ Relationships directly, it will allow you to craft Gifts and Funiture for maximum comfort for your Students to use in the Cafe. Crafting will also enable you to create various materials like Activity Reports and Growth Materials; however, during the early game, it’s best you focus on Gifts and Funiture sets.

You have three slots available to you for Crafting; each slot allows you to craft three products, the more advanced the item, the more time it needs to be produced. Each item you obtain from Crafting will be RNG; however, if you obtain duplicates, you can reuse them the next time you craft.

Lessons

You can access Lessons once you have cleared Mission Area 2-4 in Blue Archive. All Teachers will start with three Lesson Tickets, which will be refreshed daily. Once you have reached a Total Rank Area of 50, this can be increased to 7 Lesson Tickets. You can also buy Lesson Tickets from the Angel 24 daily shop. These Lessons can occur in various rooms, such as the Self-Study Room and Vegetable Garden; however, only Students you have recruited will receive Relationship points.

After you have done your Lessons and gifted your Students at the Cafe, you will receive a Momo Talk notification. Momo Talk is a messaging app you can use to communicate with your Students (although it’s incredibly one-sided as you have to wait for your Students to message you first). Once your Students have messaged you, you will be in some dialogue which will lead to the Story’s progression; here, you can receive Pyroxenes.
