Will Biomutant Have Any DLC?

These days, it feels kinda hard to determine when a game is decisively finished. In the olden days, you got a cartridge with a game on it, and that was the long and short of things, but these days, with updates and DLC, some games can theoretically go on forever, or at least as long as the developers’ funding holds out. Speaking of which, will Biomutant have any DLC?

As a large-scale open world adventure game, Biomutant is already pretty beefy. By the developers’ estimate, a straightforward run through the game’s story missions with minimal side content would probably take you anywhere from 25-30 hours. If you do go for all the side stuff, that increases to 40-45 hours. With so much content already crammed into the game, I’m not really sure what else could be realistically added with DLC. Apparently, DLC wasn’t at the forefront of the developers’ minds when they were making the game, either.

Will Biomutant Have Any DLC?

The members of Experiment 101 Studio and THQ Nordic have commented on the possibility of DLC in Biomutant a few times already, and so far, all of their answers amount to “maybe.”

When the game was still in development last year, Experiment 101’s Head, Stefan Lungqvist, said that their “focus is to finish the main game and realize our vision to the quality we want first and foremost.” He did add, though, that “we hopefully deserve the right to add more content.”

More recently, a Twitter user asked THQ Nordic whether Biomutant would receive any DLC. “We don’t have any plans yet, still focusing on delivering the best game possible at launch,” they replied. “After that, who knows?”

So at the moment, there are no plans, but once the launch period closes out, and assuming the game sells well enough to warrant further investment, then nothing is impossible.
