What is the Best Fish You Can Catch in Dave the Diver?

It is an understatement to say that the marine world is rich in Dave the Diver. You are really surrounded by opportunities to find precious loot, items, and glorious fish everywhere you go. However, we understand that the majority of players would like to optimize this process and not waste time on small fish and put their focus on the big game that will bring them a handsome profit.

Follow up with our list and see which fish we think is the best to be hunted in Dave the Diver.

Marlin

Marlin will most commonly be found at depths of 20 to 50m (even though sometimes you can encounter them even beyond that level) and will often be seen around Tuna. This is a quick fish that can hurt you for real so you better be ready for dodging followed up with swift counter-attacks when you decide to go for Marlin hunting. Our advice is that you don’t go without an upgraded harpoon gun if you want to save as much meat as possible on it.

This top-tier fish puts you in a high-risk, high-reward situation and every time you win, you have a reason to celebrate because dishes made from it are one of the best in the game. Our advice is to make Marlin and Soybean Paste Roast, a dish simply made once you have the main ingredient. All you have to get after you have the fish are the Garlic and Miso and you’re good to go!

Whitetip Reefshark

When you go hunting for Whitetip Reefshark you needn’t go deeper than 40m in most cases. Just swim about the depths of 30 or 40m and you should be able to find one soon enough. This shark is a fierce one and when fighting Dave it reminds me of a bull, as it first charges and then dashes forward towards you.

Even though bull-style fighting makes it predictable, make sure you fight this shark on its own, without any dangerous fish around. Kill all smaller fish around the Whitetip Reefshark that might attack you as their usual annoyance becomes a mortal threat when you have to fight the big Whitetip. On more than one occasion my Dave died due to a simultaneous attack from the shark and (at least one) other smaller fish.

Once you’ve conquered the Whitetip Reefshark you’ll get Whitetip Reefshark Head and Whitetip Reefshark meat. The dish we recommend you make is Whole-Roasted Shark Head. If you’ve completed Chapter 1 of the game you’ve already prepared this dish but we’ll remind you nevertheless that to make it you only need the Whitetip Reefshark head and Olive oil. Olive oil can easily be found while diving and looting around the ocean floor.

Moray Eel

Moray Eel is a shy type of fish that can be best hunted on the surface parts of the water during the night. It is one angry fish that will cause you a lot of trouble if you don’t kill it quickly. You’ll find the Moray Eel poking out of rocks, taking a bite at you while you’re just passing by or fighting other fish. Due to its thin body, you can easily miss your shot with a harpoon or gun so make sure you hunt this fish somewhere in the later stages of the game when you have experience and when you have access to some stronger weapons and traps.

A great and practical meal you can make with Moray Eel is Moray Eel Curry. You need to have 2 pieces of Moray Eel meat and 1 piece of Turmeric. Since Moray Eel isn’t too hard to find, we suggest hunting more of it at one time (if your ammo allows it) and bringing it to the surface to make this delicious and profitable dish.

White Spotted Jellyfish

Jellyfish are fun but dangerous creatures when you want to take them out and put them in a pot (I mean who wouldn’t be?!). Your best bet to catch Jellyfish is to look for them close to the surface and near the Limestone Cave. However, there’s a catch when catching these creatures (see what I did there?). They can’t be harmed by a harpoon or a gun, and instead need to be captured alive. You can use either Hush Dart, Net Gun, or Rifle with the Tranquilizer as they will either put the Jellyfish to sleep, catch it in a net or anesthetize it long enough for you to grab it.

A quick and efficient dish you can make with White Spotted Jellyfish is Seagrapes Jellyfish Sushi. The ingredients for this dish are 1x White Spotted Jellyfish, 1x Salt, and 1x Sea Grape. Salt is a common ingredient that you can find in many places, like underwater pots while Sea Grapes can be found on that same Limestone Cave where you’ll see Jellyfish.

Tuna

Probably one of the best fish to catch and make a nice profit in Dave the Diver is Tuna. There is plenty of this fish that likes to swim about in groups of 5, their meat is high-quality and you can sell dishes made from them for a nice profit. Tunas will swim near the surface, move fast, and will have a route that you will soon notice. Make sure that you don’t get hit by them when passing by as they will damage you. The best chance to get a Tuna for yourself is to set a net trap on their route. One fish from the whole group will be caught after which you can call in the salvage drone. This way you not only caught this quick and troublesome fish, but you kept its meat at a high grade.

The quickest dish you can make with Tuna is Bluefin Tuna Ootara. All you need for this dish that has awesome taste stats is Tuna meat. If you manage to get Tuna in your Fish Farm you can secure yourself a stable income source.
