All of the power, in my hand.

Prime Matter and Brass Token’s The Chant is by far one of the most interesting and engrossing survival horror titles in recent memory. With a unique cast of characters and a beckoning evil that threatens them at every turn, the narrative here is something that really keeps your head on a swivel the whole way through.

But besides the great story and characters, there’s a fair bit going on with the gameplay. More specifically, the awesome Prism Abilities that Jess will obtain over the course of the game’s duration. Today, we’ll explain how Prisms work and what each Prism actually does. Let’s check them out!

All Prism Abilities and How They Work in The Chant

As you progress throughout The Chant, you’ll be able to obtain new Prisms, giving Jess a new ability as you come across them. Each chapter in The Chant marks Jess earning a new Prism by the time it comes to a close. There are 6 chapters, so there are 6 Prisms in total.

Each of these Prisms has a unique ability, with none of them being similar to the next. Prisms are powered by Jess’ Spirit, so when it’s depleted, eating some Spirit Cap will definitely do the trick in getting the chance to use one again. So, without further delay, let’s take a look at each of the various Prisms as well as their abilities.

Blue Prism – Stasis (Hourglass)

  • Temporarily slows down enemies

Orange Prism – Repel (Wind)

  • Sends enemies flying backward with great force. Does extra damage every time an enemy makes impact.

Yellow Prism – Crystalize (Spikes)

  • Raises damaging spikes from the ground in all directions around you.

Red Prism – Grasp (Hands)

  • Raises tortured cultists from the Gloom to grab ground-based targets in the area to root and cause damage over time.
