CD Projekt RED Has Delayed The Witcher 3’s Next-Gen Update Indefinitely

The game is postponed until further notice.

The next generation of console gaming has brought with it games featuring high-end graphics and faster performance. This applies to newer games and older ones as well. Developers have started to look back on their games released during the previous generation and decide which ones could use a proper upgrade. This is what CD Projekt RED has been doing with the Witcher 3. Unfortunately, the game’s next-gen update will take longer than expected and has been delayed.

No New Release Date Was Given

CD Projekt RED announced via the official Witcher Twitter account that the next-gen update would be delayed. In their statement, the company said the following: “We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.”

This next-gen version of the game was being developed by Saber Interactive, the developers who handled the well-received Nintendo Switch port of the game. This announcement comes on the heels of recent news regarding the next Witcher game. Earlier this month, CD Projekt RED announced the next Witcher game, which will use the Unreal Engine 5, as well as a partnership with Epic Games.
