For years Capcom fans have been begging for a new Dino Crisis. There have been multiple rumors but nothing ever came of them. Two years ago, Capcom abandoned the trademark for an online Dino Crisis thus sealing the series’ fate for many fans. Today, the company has announced a brand new IP with dinosaurs called Exoprimal, which is not Dino Crisis.
Could the Game be Connected to the Dino Crisis Series?
During PlayStation’s State of Play event, Capcom debuted a trailer for the new IP, Exoprimal. The game’s story revolves around dinosaurs coming to the future. In a press release, Capcom describes the game as “a new multiplayer experience rooted in co-op – but with a competitive edge.”
The game features a mode called Dino Survival. In this mode, players compete against rival teams to see who can complete the most missions. The mode will feature 5v5 matches and hordes of dinosaur enemies. Despite its multiplayer focus, the game does have a narrative element. According to Capcom, players will be able to unlock more about the game’s world and story as they progress through it.
Even though it’s a Capcom game with dinosaurs and a red-headed female character, it is not a Dino Crisis game, as far as we know. The press release uses the following line to describe the game’s plot: “It’s 2040 and the planet is in crisis.” Capcom has yet to distance the game from Dino Crisis so it’s not known whether the two games are really connected.
Exoprimal will be exclusive to PS4 and PS5. Its release date is currently unknown.
