The Forgotten City

When does The Forgotten City Release?

The reason many mysteries go unsolved is that there simply isn’t anyone around to witness when the crux of the case goes down. You can hypothesize, sure, but unless you could go back and see the events yourself, that’s all you can do. Luckily, in The Forgotten City, that’s exactly what you can do. So, when does The Forgotten City release? Here’s everything you need to know.

When does The Forgotten City Release?

The Forgotten City has been dated for release on July 28, 2021, on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Interesting fun fact for the unaware, this game is actually a standalone reimagining of a massive narrative-focused mod released for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The mod, which went by the same name of The Forgotten City, received critical praise from the Skyrim modding community for its incredible storytelling prowess, getting downloaded over 3 million times and even receiving an award from the national Writer’s Guild.

While the original mod was built using Skyrim as a framework, this reimagining instead takes place in an ancient Roman city that was cursed into ruin by a single act of sin. As an individual displaced in time, it’s your job to use your outside perspective to unravel the mystery using deduction, wit, charm, the occasional pummeling, and some good ol’ fashioned time shenanigans.

According to the devs, this new take on the story is twice the size of the original mod’s, with the script featuring over 80,000 words. While there are plenty of carryover bits from the mod, cherry picked as the best of the best, there are plenty of new puzzles and situations to encounter.
