Resident Evil 4 Remake Will Let You Finally Fight This Fan Favorite Boss

Sharpen your blades for this one

PlayStation State of Play updated gamers on the latest games that would be releasing on their SONY Consoles. Of course, this includes the highly-anticipated return of Resident Evil, with Capcom remaking their fourth installment of the franchise. A third trailer has been released as it is now exactly one month until the Resident Evil 4 Remake becomes available for purchase. This new trailer reveals a lot of gameplay changes, including that of the return of Resident Evil 4 Krauser, a follower of Dr. Wesker. This time however, things will be different when this Boss returns to our screen.

The Change from QTE Cutscene to Third-Person Combat

In Resident Evil 4 (2004) Leon Kennedy would face Krauser, who he previously worked with, in knife-only combat where the gameplay would be strictly Quick-Time Events. Krauser is revealed to be another villain in Resident Evil, after being told that he had died in a car crash two years prior to the events in Spain. He was hired by Wesker to kidnap Ashley, leading Leon into a difficult situation where he would have to face someone he personally knew. The Boss Fight spans over the duration of 3 minutes, where players must quickly react to Krauser’s attacks by pressing the buttons that appear on the screen.

Information is shared during this cutscene, which will likely return in the Remake but as a more fluid interaction between Leon and Krauser. The gameplay trailer shows Leon moving around his environment whilst fighting off Krauser in a knife-only battle. Resident Evil 4 Remake Director, Yasuhiro Ampo and Producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirm in an interview with Game Informer that QTEs would be massively limited in the Remake. Their words suggest that Quick-Time Events may be a thing of the past for Resident Evil. Moving away from the appropriate amount of cheesy dialogue and action, into a more well reformed and serious franchise. Although it is hard to see that when Resident Evil 3 Remake’s Carlos exists.

The shift towards no QTEs is likely to move with the change of gameplay and pacing for Video Games in the modern age. No longer do we experience QTEs as part of gameplay unless it is a Supermassive, Quantic Dream or Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio game.
