Originally released in 2011 for the Nintendo Wii, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land was the first 3D(ish) Kirby game to release on a mainline Nintendo console after a lengthy stint on handhelds. It was a big hit at the time thanks to a combination of deceptively deep mechanics and fun four-player co-op. With Kirby once again a reigning Nintendo IP, it’s a great time to revisit this modern classic with an updated look. So, when does Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe come out?
When Does Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe Come Out? Answered
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a remastered version of the original Return to Dream Land releasing exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on February 24th, 2023. Pre-orders for physical copies are already open at most major retailers, with the digital version available for pre-order on the Switch eShop.

The general design of the game is mostly unchanged, with up to four players taking control of Kirby and friends in a treasure-hunting adventure to help their new friend Magalor repair his spaceship. Up to four players can control Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Bandanna Waddle Dee, though in this version of the game, other players can also control Kirby palette swaps if they like. A new Copy Ability, Mecha, will be added to the game as well, which is a pretty good incentive for multi-Kirby action.
Besides the main game, a gaggle of sub-games you can play with up to three friends will be available. These include classic Kirby games like the quick-draw contest Samurai Kirby, as well as new games like Magalor’s Tome Trackers.
Once again, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe releases on February 24th, 2023. This game is an important part of Kirby’s modern history, and definitely deserves to be tried out!
