Comfey is one of those Pokemon that you can guess the inspiration for pretty easily. What is the Alola region’s real-world counterpart? Hawaii. What do you usually think of when you think of Hawaii? Leis, those colorful flower necklaces they give you at the airport. It’s not the most compelling idea, but hey, Comfey’s cute, so it’s fine. Here’s how to get Comfey in Pokemon GO.
With the beginning of the Season of Alola last week, Comfey was added to Pokemon GO’s Pokedex alongside other Pokemon that originate from the Alola region. Comfey is appearing regularly in the wild, primarily in spots where Fairy types like to hang out like major monuments and near churches. However, befitting its iconography of the Hawaiian lei, Comfey’s appearance in the wild has a major restriction.
How to Get Comfey in Pokemon GO
Comfey is a completely region-locked Pokemon. While it appears in the wild, it only appears in the wild for players currently playing in real-life Hawaii. Hey, you wouldn’t wear a lei outside of Hawaii, right? You’d look like a crazy person.
Unfortunately, this means that the only way for players outside of Hawaii to get a Comfey is to trade for one with a Hawaii-based player. Region-locked Pokemon do occasionally make voyages outside of their home zones to other parts of the world, so keep a close eye on Pokemon GO’s social channels to know promptly whenever Comfey is out and about in the world at large.
