Is Weird West Multiplayer?

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information

The historic wild west was an unfriendly place at the best, which is why many frontier towns were so closely knit; people had to rely on each other just to survive day to day. Even outside of towns, people rarely traveled alone, forming gangs and posses to watch each others’ backs. The frontier of Weird West is even more inhospitable due to the monsters and magic, but this may be a road you have to walk alone. On that note, is Weird West multiplayer?

Is Weird West Multiplayer?

Unfortunately, Weird West is not a multiplayer game. Weird West is a completely self-contained single-player action RPG experience with no multiplayer component, online or local, and as far as the devs have divulged, there are no plans to add any kind of multiplayer functionality before or after the game’s release.

On the bright side, while you can’t venture across the frontier with any of your real-life friends, there are plenty of in-game NPCs you can have join your posse, offering both convenient circumstantial services or a friendly pistol to get you out of a tight spot.

Weird West does bill itself as an immersive sim, so your relationships with the other characters in your party do affect the development of the story and your character, making the NPC companionship component a vital factor to the game’s overall design. Though, you are also more than capable of venturing forth all on your own should you so choose.
