How to unlock The Stranger in Infernax

February of 2022 wasn’t the most jam packed month in terms of quantity of games. Quality wise however, with the likes of Elden Ring, Sifu, and Hoirizon Forbidden West coming out the same month, it’s no surprise as to why a game like Infernax released under the radar. Releasing to fairly above average reviews on Metacritic, developers at The Arcade Crew have been hard at work releasing new updates, bug fixes, and characters. The newest character to be released into the land of plague and unholy magic is The Stranger. Combined with a melee weapon and a nifty boomstick, The Stranger comes as part of a free Halloween update. Once the update has been downloaded players will need to figure out how to unlock The Stranger in Infernax.

How to unlock The Stranger in Infernax

Returning players will be accustomed to the unlocking process for The Stranger as it is the same with any other characters. For those who have not unlocked any other characters in Infernax, think of it as inputting a cheat code into an arcade machine. In order to unlock The Stranger in Infernax, start up the game and start a new game save, make sure to name the save file ‘stranger‘. That’s all there is to it, after which you will start up the game normally with your new hockey masked murdering machine.

What is Infernax?

Infernax, developed by The Arcade Crew, puts you in the shoes of a holy knight returning to their homeland after a long and arduous journey. However when the knight finally reaches his home, he finds that his land is now under an evil curse, turning most everyone into vile creatures, ghouls, and goblins. Determined to find out the truth behind the curse, the holy knight will need to make decisive choices if he wants to find the cause of this curse and free his homeland.

Infernax mixes the 2D side scrolling Metroidvania fighting gameplay with a Telltale style decision making system for story parts. This system allows the player to have multiple dialogue options. Options such as choosing to kill people, be merciful, or even upgrade different stats. Every choice and decision matters, and thus provides multiple different story arcs, bosses and endings. With tons of variability and new content being released on a regular basis, Infernax is perfect for anyone who is looking to get some of that classic Metroidvania fix, with the added benefit of being repayable after the first playthrough.
